Old Style Twenty Pound Notes to be Withdrawn from Circulation

News: Old style £20 Elgar notes going out of circulation starting July 2010...
According to the BBC, 1 in 10 of the £20 notes currently in circulation will be withdrawn in the middle of the year. Since 2007, the Bank of England started introducing the Adam Smith £20 notes with the intention of phasing out the Elgar £20s. Whilst banks may still accept the Elgar notes after the withdrawal date, it is still advisable to make sure that your £20s are the below new style Smith notes.
More information on this can be found on this Bank of England webpage. You can also download posters and leaflets with guidance and advice.
